According to the witness account, four people were in the ocean near Palau at sunset when they observed a circular light moving rapidly across the sky. Several aspects of the account are often presented as strengths:

At the same time, the report leaves out several details that investigators normally need in order to reach firmer conclusions. There is no estimated altitude, no direction of travel, no angular size, no information about weather conditions and no indication that anyone attempted to photograph the object. Why the Sunset Timing Matters

The sunset timing is one of the most useful details in the case. Objects at high altitude can remain illuminated by the Sun even after the ground below has become noticeably darker. This can create bright moving points of light against a darker sky.

The report does not provide enough information to identify a conventional explanation with confidence. However, the combination of a bright light, rapid apparent motion and limited observational detail places the sighting in a category where several ordinary possibilities remain open. The case therefore remains unidentified rather than demonstrably anomalous.

The 2012 Red and Green Lights Report

The second Koror report was filed for an event on 7 November 2012. According to the witness account, five observers watched bright circular objects displaying red and green colours. The visual description is more unusual than the 2005 report, but the duration creates a different evidential picture.

A two-hour observation is generally difficult to reconcile with a meteor or brief atmospheric event. At the same time, long-duration sightings often push investigators toward explanations involving:

One detail from the witness account is especially important. The observer reportedly acknowledged that some of the apparent pulsing or visual changes might have been caused by moving clouds. That admission does not explain the sighting, but it shows that at least one observer recognised environmental conditions could have affected the appearance of the lights.

Why Red and Green Colours Are Not Automatically Exotic

In UFO discussions, coloured lights are often treated as evidence of something unusual. In practice, red and green lights are among the most common colours associated with conventional aircraft navigation systems. Atmospheric distortion can also alter the apparent shape, brightness and colour of distant light sources.

The witness’s description of green “spikes” extending from a red centre is visually striking, but reports of geometric projections around bright lights are not uncommon when clouds, moisture, optical glare or visual perception effects are involved. Without photographs or instrument data, there is no way to determine whether the reported shapes existed as physical structures or were part of how the lights appeared to observers on the ground.

Third, both reports describe lights rather than clearly structured craft. The 2005 case centres on a fast-moving luminous object, while the 2012 case revolves around coloured lights and changing visual appearance. Neither report provides enough information to establish size, distance or physical construction.
