It occupied a middle ground where participants attempted to discuss anomalous experiences using whatever conceptual tools were available to them.

The lack of official archives increased the importance of these small civilian records. In countries with military declassification programmes or active aerospace research agencies, informal discussion groups remain secondary sources. In Cameroon, the opposite is often true. Grassroots conversations became some of the only surviving documentary traces of organised UFO interest.

It demonstrated that curiosity about unidentified aerial phenomena existed in Cameroon independently of foreign media influence, while also showing how difficult it was to sustain organised research without institutional backing.
